چکیده
The role of the adoption farming economies in transformation mid-Holocene landscapes Northeast Iberia is under discussion given that Neolithization coincides with cold climatic phase dated ca. 7500–7000 cal BP. main aim this paper to assess whether human activities or climate were driver vegetation changes during Middle Holocene through study archaeobotanical data from three case studies: Cova del Sardo, La Draga, and Coves Fem. application diverse techniques different plant remains provides a complete picture composition uses. During early Neolithic, settlement surroundings intensively exploited for firewood, wood raw material, timber, fibers. resources obtained mainly deciduous pine forests, depending on site localization, but also riparian zones. diversity plants was high, not only trees shrubs herbs. Evidence deforestation has been identified Draga Sardo. combination exploitation other agropastoral favored expansion colonizing species enhanced biodiversity at local scale.

An archaeobotanical perspective on Holocene plant-use practices in lowland northern New Guinea
Existing archaeobotanical and palynological records of plant use in the northern New Guinea lowlands are reviewed in light of recent work at Kuk and theoretical refocusing on plant use practice. A practice-based approach is supported as the most useful way of investigating the highly problematical area of tropical plant food production. The existing direct record of past plant use in lowland Ne...

Plant remains from archaeological sites reflect many aspects of the relationship between people, plants, and the environmentin which they lived. Plant macroremains—seeds and wood that are visible without a microscope—can address a widerange of questions. The most basic include what crops were grown? What was used for fuel? Do any of the plants comefrom distant lands? Examples from fourth and th...
متن کاملMitochondrial Haplogroup H1 in North Africa: An Early Holocene Arrival from Iberia
The Tuareg of the Fezzan region (Libya) are characterized by an extremely high frequency (61%) of haplogroup H1, a mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroup that is common in all Western European populations. To define how and when H1 spread from Europe to North Africa up to the Central Sahara, in Fezzan, we investigated the complete mitochondrial genomes of eleven Libyan Tuareg belonging to H1. Coa...
